Become an Expert: Converting files to mp3 format!
***This tutorial will aid you in converting audio files
to mp3 so that you will know how to access/create the
files you need to burn a music CD or upload a podcast!***
To burn a music CD that supports mp3 files only:
1. If you have downloaded a piece of audio in a format other than mp3, simply open the file you need converted in itunes. To download itunes, if you don’t already have it, click here.
2. Once you have itunes opened and your audio file highlighted, (simply by clicking on it), go to the Edit tab and click on Preferences. If for any reason you don’t see Preferences listed under the Edit tab, simply look for it under the File tab.
3. Once you have selected preferences, click the tab labeled Advanced.
4. After you have done this, click on Importing.
5. Then, in the drop down menu for “import using“, select MP3 encoder.
6. Hit ok.
7. Then click on the Advanced tab once the screen you started with when opening itunes appears.
8. Click “convert selection to mp3“.
You will know that everything is processing by looking to the left of the screen.
It should say converting “your audio file” to mp3 format.
The mp3 audio file will then appear on your original screen under the old audio file!
***Now you can select the mp3 file for the playlist you want to burn to a CD. ***
To Upload a Podcast to your blog:
Again, before you do anything, you need to covert the .aif file to .mp3
You must have itunes downloaded, if you don’t, click here.
If you need to/ want to create a site using Blogger, click here.
If you need to/want to create a site using WordPress, click here.
If you don’t already have an account with Gcast, click here.
In order to post your podcast, you will need to have one account in itunes,
one in either Blogger or WordPress (or some other blogging site), and Gcast!
***Some of the following Instructions are the same as above***
1. Right-click on the audio file you want converted and choose “open with – itunes”.
2. Once you have itunes opened and your audio file highlighted, go to the Edit tab and click on Preferences. If for any reason you don’t see Preferences listed under the Edit tab, simply look for it under the File tab.
3. Once you have selected preferences, click the tab labeled Advanced.
4. After you have done this, click on Importing.
5. Then, in the drop down menu for “import using“, select MP3 encoder.
6. Hit ok.
7. Then click on the Advanced tab once the screen you started with when opening itunes appears.
8. Click “convert selection to mp3“.
9. Close Itunes. Go into D:drive and double click on My Music, then on itunes, then on itunes Music, then on Unknown Artist, then on Unknown Album. “Unknown Album is your file”!
10. Save this file in your personal storage folder.
11. Listen to your mp3 file to make sure it works. Once it does, log into your Gcast site.
12. Click the tab on the left that says “upload new audio“.
13. Type in the required fields and find your mp3 audio file in your personal storage folder. Also, make sure you have it set to automatically publish your podcast.
14. Click “I Agree, upload this file“.
15. Once the upload process is complete, click on Listen to your Podcast. Then, click on your podcast’s name.
16. If it works, next click on Love this podcast? Add it to your Blog or Myspace.
17. Choose the look you want your player to appear as once it’s embedded onto your blog. It would be better to keep the size small also.
18. Copy the html code from the bottom and paste it into a post on your blogger or wordpress site. Make sure you delete everything after “</embed>.” For example, keep the bold part:

19. Publish your post. View your site then to make sure the podcast works. Enjoy!
